12/12/04

So i'm not well today... my head has been pounding, my tonisls are absolutly killing me, and i have a cold... not a happy bunny... (closer to those fluffy little rabbits who just don't want to live any more...) So have spent the whole day in pj's, in bed or watching TV (yes i watched most of the hollyoaks ombnibus... so?)
On a better note only one week of college left until xmas hols... now i thought that I had got just about all of the presents that i needed to get... aparentley not... i kinda remembered plp that i didn't quite remember when i went out xmas shopping.... :(
oh well going to go now... and sleep...

so update on university stuff. I have got offers from southampton and nottingham so far - both wanting ABB, which is kl... but means that i now have to get those grades! i have interview/ucas days coming up for Bristol, Bath, and Manchester. The only one i haven't heard from so far is Exeter, but that had lower entry requirements, so am waiting for that. I'm quite lucky that my application got sent off so fast. My senior tutor did my refernce, as opposed to my form tutor. Form tutors generally do the refernces, but mine has to deal with all the art foundation refernces... but its ok coz i had my senior tutor last year for maths, so he knows me quite well.
As for the part of the comp c/w that has been written(critised/wanted to kill?*delete as applicable*) about in past entries, its all in a bit of a lull at the moment. She took what I had done in to mark(which as you may have guessed means that i didn't finish it... but then again hardly anyone did), which was about 30 pages. Which was *I* thought quite a bit... but then some people were handing in 80 pages of A3 (yes you know who you are... be ashamed...), and that part still wasn't finished... So just doing other work at the moment... quite glad about that!
Took my sister around my college the other day, she's planning on applying... think she liked it... just now needs to weigh up the benefits to her of goinging the college or staying on at her own 6th form.
Going to be so busy in the next couple of weeks. As well as the interview/visits mentioned above I just have so much stuff planned. Tonight I'm going to a friend's 18th party - she's hired out a club (about 100 plp going!) and everyone is *meant* to dress in white, red, or pink. I say meant because i'm cheating a bit... pink with black... but i think its ok! She's wearing a salwar kameez anyway so is going to look SOOOOO pretty. Bunked our comp lesson on wed to get it as well... so not fair... i mean if i had gone as well, now that would be fair! Anyway should end up haveing a good time tonight.
Next fri I'm going out to a chineese restaraunt that hosts kareoke on fri night... should be a great laugh! Then the week after I have the work xmas dinner, which gets paid for!!!!!! always a bonus. Then the week after that I have my driving test, and its the last day of school so we'll probably go out. I'm working both the sat and sun, then going to MUSE on the mon. Standing Tickets... so wkd! Then on the wed i'm going out for another friends 18th... prob a meal and then to the pub...
And of course this is WITHOUT any of the work that i'm going to get.... argh... no time!!!!!
Just swiched browers from IE to firefox... so far i like the layout and the tabs instead of having to have loads of windows open!
We have 2 comps networked in my house. There is the downstairs comp, which is old and slow. Then is my comp that i'm writing this on, and thats a lot newer, faster and *prettier*, but unfortunally it takes its internet from the old slow one. At the mo the old comp has decided to be a BIG pain. Basically last week it wouldn't even load up - problem with the registry. Since i've stopped using that comp things seem to have gone bad. I hadn't got around to installing a firewall, mainly because half of my family is computer illetrate and teaching them to use it would take too much time... and i also hadn't installed adaware... which appears to have been a mistake as there seems to be an abundance of trojans on that comp. Also running adaware has bought up 367 'critical' objects... which is NOT good. However because of the slow nature of the comp (and the size of the problems) it is taking a LONG time even to delete the entries... :(
I just can be bothered to play with it any more...!

Sitting in computing, meant to be doing my c/w. Its just hard because there is SO much to do, and not all that much time to do it in. They want me to do so much, explain every little thing that anyone with half a brain could figure out in a second. Like I have to explain every field i put in a table. Let me give you an example... I'm doing a project on a sports club. They want a table in a database to store member detail. I have to say why they want first name and surname... crazy. Or when I make a form for them to enter data in, I have to explain that the label that says First Name, corresponds to the field first name and is a label. If it was just 1 field it would be ok, its the fact that there are many more field than 1. :(
So i guess that i'd better stop playing about and posting, and get back to c/w...

14/11/04

So i did the stats exam... i think *hope* that it went better than the last 1!!!
I was meant to have my driving test on the 5th, but there were all the strikes on, so it had to be re booked. At first they rebooked me for 11th march!!! so i called up to complain and i've got one at another test centre for 17th dec... which is actually meant to be my last day at skl... but i think its early in the morn, and i have 2 frees in the morn, so i mite b ok.
On a better note I've recieved my first reply from a uni inviting me for an interview. Its Bath, which I didn't like as much as one or two others mainly because, for me, its felt sightly out of the way... coming from london though I have to accept that if I've chosen not to stay in London, everywhere else is going to be smaller! The actual course was ok though, which is why it got put down.
So i've got a unit test in chem tomorrow, and i'm planning to do better than in the last topic. The last topic involved learning 40+ similar equations... it was just a bit confusing and hard to learn all of them. This one involves more maths, which is good for me. Truthfully I only remebered about the test because one of my friends txted me asking me something about it... should really start writing it all down where i'll member it.
I had a maths test on fri, which i also did better in than in other topics - 72% - B, as opposed to low E's in past topics - so go me!!!
I've also got to get a lot of my computing coursework in for wed... and i'm not all that far through it!!! ooops?
Might go and sort out the layout on the page so you can see it under the 'blogger' bar

20/10/04

tired right now... had to go to court this morning and give evidence, as i was mugged in april. I wouldn't say that its an experience that i'd like to experience again. My legs were shaking when i was in the witness stand... Basically it happened on a high street at 4.00 in the afternoon... and it was all captured on CCTV... but the two defendents still decided to plead not guilty. The defence was kinda odd... kept trying to get me to say i was lying, and telling a different story. Twas just not nice, some odd kind of fear, when i know i've done nothing wrong but they're saying that i have... anyway its quite stressful...
So i went into college after basically to get work for comp and an 1hr chem lesson... and then i got a lift home... and i've just had a maths tutor - and my brain really wasn't ready for doing any maths... argh so i'me so sleepy and trying to get a lot of sugar into me... coz thats just what i fell like doingm but it doesn't seem to be helping much at the mo... zzzzzzz.....

feet hurt. basically when i come home from work usually my feet hurt, then are ok after a few hrs... but they still ache today... had a fine day at work, was on the downstairs till all of the day (which is busyier) and putting out books when it got quiet. Wasn't half as busy as the past 2 weeks were - for some reason really manic... so was just a normal day basically!
quieter wknd as well this week for me. Last fri went out to the cine w/ 2 of my m8s to see 'mambo italiano'- was quite good - not groundbreaking or anything but enjoyable... apart from some 'kids' in the cine... i say kids, they prob weren't much younger than me... but they were just being really annoying, we were sitting in front of them then we moved coz they were putting their feet up on our seats... which i have to ammit that i do, but only when there's a free seat in front of me. also they really must not have looked at any trailers/reviews etc for the film as when the 2 guys kissed on screen they were yelling out... if they have a problem w/ it then they didn't have to go and see the film did they?
Well now to a film that was groundbreaking - last sun i went with my sister to see 'hero' - wow. Thats basically it. It was just breathtaking. If people have seen 'crouching tiger, hidden dragon' this was better... and i love crouching tiger. The cinematography was so beautiful, the matrial arts were perfectly choreographed it was just so good. What really surprised me however was when i was reading 'empire' earlier they were talking about the actress Zhang Ziyi who playes 'Moon' (and also plays Jiao Long in crouching ticher (thanks imdb)!) doesn't know any martial arts - is just a trained dancer - crazy!
And on the saturday night I went to my friends 18th birthday.. we had such a good time... there were about 30 of us at her house and a *little* bit of alcohol... i personally didn't get drunk, but a few of my friends did... will not name them in case they read this and kill me...!
so just relaxin this weekend... well actully won't be able to relax tomorrow as i have way too much maths hw to do... and it should already be in so really should do it! argh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

22.09.04

For the past week I have basically been on a road trip round different parts of the country with my mum viviting open days at different universities. Actually had a quite good time - but i'm exhausted.Really liked most of the ones that I saw - I have to say that I liked Bristol and Southamton best... they really seem like the kind of place that I could live in for the 3/4 yrs.
Bristol seems to be a great city... large, loads of shops... and the computer science department seems nice. The uni precinct(rather than campus) is right in the city as well, which I liked. However the only drawback is that most of the halls are right up a big hill!
I think that one of the main issues with me for uni is not to go to anywhere that is too small - I think really that living in London I'm spoilt with things to do... and I really love the size... many people don't - "too many people, too impersonal" but it makes me feel at home. So basically anywhere that I go is going to be smaller than London... but I have been looking at City unis so that i'll be happy.
Went to southamton today, and was impressed there as well. The computer science is exellent - one of the top in the country... and the labs are really nice... they have the nicest labs of the unis that i've visited (not that they did any tours of the labs at bath...) and the campus was large, the accomadtion close and the city not far away and it seemd to have good travel links. So I've just got to finish all my ucas stuff (which of course also involves starting...) and get all my applications in so that i can be accepted... :)
Going now because I'm tired, and I have a gym induction at 9 in the morn 2moz!!!

14.09.04

So i failed my driving test today...
My actual driving was fine... I only got 8 minors... but it was the two majors that failed me... really for observation. The first at a really tricky junction where the left turn is practially on top of a rounderbout... which i then had to turn right at... :( tis mean, oh and the other was for kinda obstructing the road... when 1 car was reversing on my side of the road and another onto the road on the other side and another car from the opposite direction. Now the car on the other side of the road shouldn't really have been reversing out, but can't really blame that... i'm just kinda pissed now coz there not 'major' majors and i could really have avoided them... :(
oh well got to miss chem and maths... which just means that i'll have to copy up :(
oh well...

03.09.04

Just went to see 'The Terminal' - Thought that it was really good! I think that Tom Hanks is just a brilliant, believeable actor. This may have something to do with the fact that although he is in no way ugly - but not super gorg - and relies on something other than his looks in films. Catherine Zeta-Jones however was quite ordinary. Somehow her acting cannot compare to Hanks'. Though truthfully i may be a bit hypocritical, because I do admit to going to watch films that, though may not be my kind of film, do have some nice looking guys in them... like the cinderealla story which i saw last week with some friends and my younger sisters mainly because chad micheal murrey was in it. I'm kinda over those teen flicks but at least this one wasn't as bad as some of the ones i've been to over the years... i mean it had some kind of plot... popular guy falls for social outcast who is actally really pretty and we discover new depths to guy... ok so the plot was the same as many such movies but really it was just a bit of fun and didn't pretend to be anything else! So it seems as if i'm a budding film critic... actually i think i'd be quite like the job - getting paid to watch films... any offers?

26.08.04

Hey to all!
So did a lot better on my AS levels than I thought - I got an A in computer science, B's in Chemistry and Phys (even though I really thought that I'd messed that up!!!) and a C in Maths - So basically really happy. Went out with a lot of my college mates for coffee, then for a meal at Nandos (yum...!) and back to my friends house to just mess around and play dance mat - I really suck at it - I think I need more practice lol!!! we were all so tired though that we were falling asleep on her sofa!
Yeaterday I went up to college to change the choices that I had made for my A2 course next year. I had decided to do Comp, Chem and Phys - and they were my best subjects so it would make sense. Hovever I was looking over uni prospectuses and realised that if I wanted to do computer science (which I kinda decided at the same time) I needed an A level in maths, even though the grade might not come out as well. So I've got to survive another year of maths (without the m8 that got me through last yr because he's dropping it) but at least I don't have to study statistics any more!!!!
I went for an interview for job on tuesday that would mean that I got more money for working 5.5 hrs on the sun than I currently am doing 7.5 hrs on a sat. So I went along for the interview and I felt that it went quite well, but that I wasn't too likely to get it as they were interviewing all tue and wed, and there might have been *too* much competition. However I got a call today saying that they also had a vacency for the saturday if I would like that so it should mean that I get quite a bit more money!!! I had to go and hand in my notice to my current manager - and she was actually really nice about it and said that she would write me a reference :)
So a lot has happened in the last week and I have less than a week till I go back to college... in at 8.45 argh and i have lessons, but should have the afternoon off cause its a wednesday!

18.08.04

Well a while since I last updated but i've finally got the layout working again (i did mean to do it earlier... promise) and am now working on making my site work. Its mostly done... just need to get all the pics uploaded... and to make a link from me angelfire site... they just have a few too many ads and i'm too poor (and possibly stingy...) to upgrade to a non free package... so i found a good new host that is free, has no ads and much more space, so not really a hard decision!
Just been away for a week to Devon, it was... well rainy... but this is england and we're just slightly used to it! But still had a good time relaxing, swimming, reading, visiting family...
Results out tomorrow... slightly *cross out as applicable* nervous/scared/terrified... well ok not exactly scared... but a bit nervous... mainly about physics coz i know i didn't do as well as i could have and i really messed up the practical. But i'm hoping that i've done quite well in chem and computing... and i'm just ignoring maths... which is probably a good idea!
So back to updating the site... should be finished by the end of the day *crosses fingers and waves!*

:(

my throat hurts... one of my tonsils resembles a golf ball and the other hurts as well out of sympathy. Swallowing is bad, sneezing and yawning are out of the question. So i'm sitting here felling soory for myself... not talking (not that there is anyone to talk to at the mo) because it hurts...
not gone to college today, after I missed chem this morn there wasn't much point - i'm not carrying on with maths, we were just watching 'the theory of everything', which i've seen before, in phys, and then computing.... well theres hardly any point for me ever to go to computing...!
Hopefully going to the Leicester open day tomorrow, with my dad, should be interesting, just hopefully i'll be able to speak by then. What I find irritating is that the 2 unis that i really liked the look of courses for have their open days on the same day, how :( is that, though there is another open day in september for Surry.
Have noticed that the pics for this diary don't seem to be working, better go and sort that out...

16.06.04

All exams finished!!!!
such a great feeling! went shopping yeterday for the first time in months, and spent just a little bit *holds fingers up just to show how little she spent*!!! so i've been doing nothing all day today, but i'm going round to my friends in a bit, then i've got a driving lesson, and reviews at college tomorrow, and a piano lesson... so a bit busier!!
I have a new baby cousin! she is sooo cute - anna may, she looks just like my aunt, and she has such a lot of hair for such a small baby! so so sweet! it was my dad's birthday today and my aunt, uncle, other cousin James(2) and of course Anna, came round and we made quite a bit of noise and she just slept right though it! - oh and my mum made cake... my mum makes the best cake!

11.06.04

yey... 3 subjects down, 1 to go!
had my final maths exam today - statistics *bleh* but it went ok, not as well as either mechanics or pure, but it should b ok.
Also had computing... which was v.easy... surprisingly so, and quite a few of the questions were common knowledge, and we had a very large section on how to use spreadsheets, which wasn't exactly in the syllabus, bt was kl. And the q with the most marks was actually one of the easiest, just stating 4 parts of a feasibilty study and a short description, which was pretty easy coz its basically just a glorified list!
however the last one is physics... which may not be quite as easy... basically should be ok on mechanics and radioactivity, and astrophysics, its just the electricity i'm slightly more worried about... :(
anyway i'm meant to be revising that most of the weekend, and i'm working tomorrow, and the england v. france match is on sun... and i have 2 watch it, nothing i can do, just compulsory... so i rekon we can win... but i have maybe too much hope sometimes... c'mon - we are world champions at rugby, why can't we be euro champions at footie? lol.

03.06.04

So actually been revising today! have been doing chemistry, which i guess is the least boring to revise for!!! there's just so much to go over for each subject... I have overflowing large ringbinders for each subject... its crazy!
On a better note, I got a new dress for my dad's 50th birthday party.. tis blue and floaty... 1st dress I've owned for about 6 years! kinda outa my usual style (which is casual... i'm just about always in jeans!) but is really nice :)
so betta be going, i have 2 revise so much more before next week...

01.06.04

ZZZZZ.... tired!!!
just been to kickboxing, i'm finding it harded every week... getting more and more unfit :( tried 2 start 'brisk walking' to get me to start jogging.. you see I started when it was nice and sunny, but my enthusiasm kinda dropped in a few days, as the weather got worse (london weather in may just kinda loves changing all the time). So now I either need to start that again, or join some kind of gym. Which I'd do... apart from I have to wait for another 7/8 months till my bday to join the one round the corner, or actually have to walk quite a way to my m8 goes to... which wouldn't be too bad, its just the fact that i'd then have to walk home... which yes i'm too lazy to do... and i'm wondering why i'm not fit...?

30.05.04

Argh... so tired... went to the cinema last nite, to see 'Day after tomorrow' wasn't too bad, but was a bit cheezy at some points... sorry if people haven't seen it... but you're just sitting there watching, and all the bad stuff happens, and then if that wasn't bad enough, a pack of wolves comes and manages to find the survivers and attack... but the CGI used for the wolves was actually really good.
Any way 2 of my friends came and slept round mine after, and so we were chatting till quite late, which would have been ok, apart from the fact that I had to get up at 8.30 to go to work leaving me with not that much sleep... so i'm tired now!
Work was boring, was stuck on a department by myself, which only got busy in the last half hour when I could have been counting up... my feet hurt.... so what if I seem to be complaining a lot...

Saturday, May 29, 2004

29.05.04

you know when you get that feeling that you're not sure if something was real or a dream...? well i'm sure I saw an advert for a new program last night, but now i'm not sure if i did, maybe i just had a weird dream, you see I just looked the program up on the channel that it was meant to be on, but there are no listings, and I checked radio times, but they didn't have any advance listings for it... now i'm confused.... :(
Last ever Friends last night... kinda scary end of era thing... but ross and rachel... knew it... I mean its been building up for 10yrs! Can't wait to see if the Joey spinoff is any good... coz I don't think anything could really match friends... but look how well 'Frasier' has done after 'Cheers'... so it could be good!
So after this slightly TV orientated entry, I'm gonna go....

22.05.04 no.2

wow, 2 entries in a day... don't get your hopes up, it won't happen very often! Just adding another entry to see if my new layout... which yes I was doing instead of revision, works!
please vist my website and leave a note for me in the guestbook telling me if you like it, as I haven't got round to putting 'comments' on this yet. thanks!

28.05.04

Sitting here, meant to be doing revision. basically not... as you could guess.
Tried to revise a bit of computing, but the textbook sent me to sleep...
I did actually read over some of my chemisty notes, so that counts!
Basically not done much this week, after my 1st maths exam, been out driving a few times with my parents after being put on the insurance :) am actually doing ok, my problem is, unlike all those other learner drivers who cruze down the road at what must be 10mph, I too often tend to sit just above the speed limit... and if I do that in my practical I get failed... nice huh?
Well got a little time before my practical anyway... its in september, and there was a 5 month waiting list. And now I don't think that they're even taking bookings because the test centre is full... crazy huh!
Going to have a 'friends' night tonight, load of my m8s are going to get together to watch the last episode... yet another end of era... so many long running shows seem to be coming to an end, and when you're a slight TV addict (i'm a lot better that I was... honest) tis bad lol
Well better be going to at least pretend that I'm doing work... or just actully get my site up and running again. The second sounds like a better idea... who needs good grades anyway... (oh that would be moi... oh well!)
