Long Long Time...

Oops! As the title says it has been a very long time since I last blogged!
Just checked and it was summer when I went to Paris! Quite a while indeed.
Well... what have I been up to? Not massive amounts really! Worked most of the summer, came back to uni in October, new flat, very nice! Just been slaving away at the coursework since! Oh and I went to Venice last week! Such a beautiful city :D Was quite lucky to get there considering I had 24 hr bug/food poisining the day before, so was quite weak on the way there, in fact for most of the trip, but still had an AMAZING time :D Everywhere you look in the city you are amazed at the beauty of it all! Its almost magical! We went on a gondola, which was just gorgeous, and we didn't get too ripped off! Hmm... what else did we get up to?
We stayed in a cute little B&B called Residenza Degli Angeli, run by Marco and Esmarelda(we didn't pick soley on their names... honest!), which was really nice, had wooden beams on the celing! We did a lot of walking around, just exploring side streets and loving the beauty of each canal we crossed! We went to piazza San Marco, where we had the most expensive coffee's of our lives (8 euros each), but in such a lovely setting we couldn't bring ourselves to care! We went into the Basillica, saw the treasure room and the golden alter piece, which made us stop and stare for at least 5 minutes. It was so ornate, filled with a million gems and gold. We went up the campanile in the square, making the mistake of going up just before the hour, meaning we experienced the bells first hand up very close!
We also visited the Doge's palace - I don't think I've ever seen a building quite so grand! Each room was GIGANTIC, and all decorated so ornately! Apart from the main sights we did a lot of walking around, being captivated by the gorgeous Murano glass, marvelling at the masks, eating(when I could manage it!) yummy italian food and genreally having a brilliant time!
Back to the real world though, and we came back to a lots of coursework :S There is an awful lot to do before christmas (not least starting christmas shopping!), I really need to buckle down and start doing it all(and maybe stopping writing this essay of a blog as procrastination would help!). I have quite a few large courseworks, and of course my individual project which I have been sucessfully ignoring for way too long now. Its not that I don't want to start doing it, its more that I don't really know where to start, and with such a far off deadline its really had to get myself to do it when there seems to be so many more pressing matters, i.e other courseworks. In reality its worth a lot more than all of the others, so I really should be getting on with it now!
Oh changing topics quickly and entirely, I've been to two wicked gigs this term! Saw Jose Gonzales earlier this term, who was just amazing. His voice was so perfect! At least as good as its recorded, if not better! Also saw Newton Faulkner last night! I must say that it was the funniest gig I have ever been to! He was such a character - telling little stories that made the whole crowd crack up between each song! And the way he plays the guitar is incredible, he uses it as a guitar and a percussion intrument at the same time and I have no idea how he plays and sings at the same time! Definatly someone to go see given the chance!
Right... I have loads more I could write(mainly about my future plans...) but I'll leave them for my next post so that I actually have a chance of getting any work done today!!!

Paris!

Revision

Things I have learnt over the past week or so: Revision is bad, boring and I really don't want to do any more exams. Things I haven't learnt: anything to do with my subjects.
I have become a master of procratination. I don't seem to be able to concentrate on anything at the moment. My head is so dead from the mountain of coursework I've done since coming back from the Easter holidays that it refuses to concentrate on any revision :-S
I really want to do well in these exams, but with so much to do in so little time I'm not all that sure how I'm going to manage it...
I just can't wait till they're all over (June 5th!) - It will be so nice to start having a social life again!!! Seeing friends outside of exam rooms! Chilling in the flat - doing nothing what so ever! I really really can't wait!

too much work...

ug. like the title says - I have way too much work right now. I'm trying to do it all, but I keep hitting dead ends :( I have a 2000 word careers report, and I have to choose a job to research (this research was maybe meant to have been done a little sooner...), not to mention actually writing a report on my chosen job role. Then theres the L.E - I really have no clue with where I'm going, which obviously is not very helpful. Also theres the group project and the SPS coursework... and revison(to do well in the exams as the coursework obviously isn't going to go amazingly!)
Not the way I hoped that I would be spending my holidays :( but I guess thats what summer is for!

coursework

Well very surprisingly I did actually sort a lot out on Monday! I booked a hair cut, reserved the MOST gorgeous dress in the work that my parents are buying me for my birthday :) sorted out my student loan and tried to sort out my tax. Honestly I did. But tax does not like to be sorted out. At all.
My hair cut is cool and only cost £5! I got it cut at a toni and guy acadamy in central London. Meaning I let a student cut my hair. But he was good, and the teacher checks every single step! So I now have much tidier hair, and a fringe. Its meant to sweep, but my hair is not used to having a fringe, so doesn't really want to do what its supposed to! Soon it shall though!
I also have started my coursework! Finally :P I have written 700 words of my 3000 word report and just about started a programming project in the last two days. So it is moving along! Just need to get it all done without having to get too stressed! Like I did last time :S

holiday

*scared face* now a 3rd of the way through my holiday, and i have done no work... yet. i'm starting (and achieving...!) a LOT tomorrow! Been relaxing, enjoying myself, and working though so I haven't just been wasting my time!
I have also finally updated my website! its nice and pretty, but I'm still adding to the whole functionality thing! But I'm sure I've got some nice procrasting time to use up doing it over the next week!
anyways I'm tired and going to bed - finished working now so a lie in! yey!

finished coursework!

yey - finially finished my two lagest courseworks! :) such a relief! unfortunately i am now ill. :( mat has given everyone in the flat the flu :S i still need to do SE and SPE, but it feels like a lot less pressure :)
really need to start xmax shopping...

ok so hours after I started I've finally installed java on my laptop... but on windows rather than linux as was my original plan. argh. I don't like linux as I don't understand it properly yet - i'm not great with the terminal so installing things is a nightmare - especially when I downloaded the wrong thing first :(
Now I just have to implement the java for my coursework. Unfortunately I've forgotton all the java I ever knew and the deadline is on Friday... not my best time planning I'll admit. Also I wanted to go out tomorrow but that probs not going to happen now, as I'm working Fri afternoon so can't do the work then.
Also my flat is freezing, which is not helping my immune system :S

ugh... i ache... i have something that isn't quite flu but its getting there and everything aches :( i was meant to be going choir, and to toner's, but I can't manage anything more than sitting around with my duvet :S

Software Engineering isn't fun. In fact its probably the exact opposite. I really don't understand a thing at the moment grr... and the lecture slides aren't helping at all. At least I'm not the only one - but I guess that means theres not anyone to tell me what on earth its about :( *cries*

bored at work

ok so I'm working now... making people get the new NUS cards... apart from no one seems to want them atm :S I've sold about 1 card in 3 hours... basically getting paid to write this blog now :-S
What else is going on? hmm... went out last night - was great fun - knew soooo many people out and kept trying to find someone and ending up talking to someone else for half hour instead!
Working till friday, so hopefully more people will want cards by then!

settled

Internet :) yey... sad I know but I had some withdrawal symptoms :-S
Settled into our flat and my room, which is now rearranged to a much better layout! Also have some posters and LOTS of pics on my walls so they look a lot better!
Went to rams last night - had a great time, and house party tonight just down the road so I can just stumble back!
Today is just about clearing my room a bit, and exploring some of the clifton shops. If we can be bothered to go out that is!!!

Mon 25th Sept - post before internet in flat!

Wow - finally in my flat! no internet yet, so this will have to be uploaded later!
My room is bigger than I thought - more narrow and long, than square as I thought. Don't think I like the postitioning of things though so today will be about rearranging, and properly unpacking - and decorating - it definately needs some colour on the walls as its very bland atm!
Not quite used to the flat obviously yet - woke up early and couldn't get back to sleep - so everyone else is still asleep while I'm writing this.
Also going to meet toner today, and shopping with kat tomorrow :)
And sort out internet - already feel like I need it!

hee hee I'm posting this on my laptop which I have FINALLY managed to do what I want with - be really geeky and set up windows AND linux :) so it works (though i have to admit a lot of that had to do with tom/google...)

So once again I've got a half post waiting to be published with photos from my holidays... I may well try to post the photos, even if I don't get round to doing anymore than commenting them!
Been back from Florida for 2 weeks now, and pretty much just been working! have done 11 days out of 14, so tired now! But have a week before going back to Bristol, so a good time to rest, see people and say bye! Toner is coming down tue/wed so doing some fun London-y things - Aquarium (not an oceanarim..) and London Eye, which I'm going to book for around the time the sun sets. I've been twice before, once in the daylight and once at night - both spectacular, but night time kind of steals the show! Then after going to meet up with friends for dinner at wagamamas :) May well try to get some photos and post them. As is probably evident I think my blog needs some more pictures! Though one of the major problems at the moment is that I haven't yet transferred anything from my computer to my NEW LAPTOP XD
Decided that as my computer has been quite mean for quite a while to get a new one. Decided to get a new desktop, then one laptop, then this laptop with better spec, as if I'm going to spend all my money it might as well last! And also I'm an impatient person who doesn't like to wait for her computer to take ages to load things! :P
hmm... I may look at doing those photos now... and in fact changing the layout slightly given that with my new laptop I've realised it tiles....

Barcelona

Ok so I thought I'd update(finally...) with tales from Barcelona - such a lovely city!
Went last mon (7th), flight was fine, and managed to find our hotel with only a little detour the wrong way down a line at what must be Spain's most confusing station. Our hotel was called Silken-St-Gervasi, and thats the pic above. Really nice, especially for the price!

lazing

so I'm at home, and not really doing all that much. Worked quite a few days last week, which should give me some much needed money! Was quite tiring though... I don't know how people do that all the time! must get used to it I suppose, but my feet were killing me after standing on them for 4 days! This week a lot of my friends are away so I'm not really doing much. I'm pretending to clear my room, to think about going over some of this year's work, and not just waking up to watch ER and Without a Trace...
Got some excting things coming up though - I'm going to Barcelona at the start of august with Toner, and then to Disney World florida with my family XD
I think I may well redesign this blog as another excuse not to be doing anything productive...

finished!

Exams are over! finally :) just really chilling out and relaxing now. Still in Bris and enjoying the gorgeous weather before going home for the summer. The exams had their ups and downs, the ca paper was easier than past papers, but that doesn't mean that I've got enough to scrape a pass. The se was the opposite - quite a bit harder than last years paper, but I didn't need too many marks so I should have got through! The maths was fine(astonishingly) and shouldn't have any problems passing that! Also I should hopefully be getting my psych essay marks back, as the assesment boycott has ended.
Didn't get an interview with the job I applied for, so means that I have to try to get summer work back home - I think I'm really going to need the money next year! Getting the keys to our flat some time soon, its going to be so much fun next year :) but I'm really going to miss halls - there's a great atmosphere from the sheer volume of people in the same place :)
